Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to be a beacon of hope for fans, as confirmed by Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin. Dive into the latest updates and ongoing speculation surrounding this highly anticipated game!
This Is Not A Joke, Silksong Is Real
Confirmed By Team Cherry’s Griffin
Amidst swirling rumors and fan speculation, Hollow Knight enthusiasts can breathe a sigh of relief. Team Cherry's Marketing and Publishing Head, Matthew "Leth" Griffin, took to X (formerly Twitter) to reaffirm that Hollow Knight: Silksong is indeed real and actively in development. This reassurance came in response to a fan's plea for any sign that the game was still on track.
The speculation began when Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen changed his X profile picture to an image of a cake, sparking theories about a potential Silksong ARG or an announcement for the Nintendo Switch 2. However, YouTuber fireb0rn, after reaching out to Griffin, clarified that Pellen's tweet was simply a "nothingburger" and the cake was merely a playful misdirection. Fireb0rn humorously tweeted, "Apologies to have misled everyone. The cake was a lie."
Despite the playful confusion, Griffin firmly restated, "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." This marks the first update from Team Cherry on Silksong's status in over a year and a half, providing a much-needed reassurance to the community.
Silksong’s Six-Year-Long History
First unveiled in February 2019, Silksong was initially expected to launch in the first half of 2023. However, in May 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay, citing the game's expansive scope and their commitment to enhancing its quality. Silksong promises to transport players to a new kingdom, introduce nearly 150 new enemies, and offer a challenging new difficulty level known as Silk Soul mode.
The recent update, while small, has elicited mixed reactions. Some fans are grateful for any news and have responded with supportive messages, urging the team not to rush under pressure. Others, however, are growing restless after almost six years of anticipation, feeling that the update falls short of their expectations for the eagerly awaited title.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated to launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Players will join Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on her perilous journey through an unknown world to reach the kingdom's peak. Although no specific release date has been announced, stay tuned for further updates and announcements to keep up with Silksong's progress.
