My engagement with Pokemon TCG Pocket ebbs and flows, but nothing reignites my enthusiasm like a new expansion. With the arrival of each set, I dive back in, battling my way to earn Emblems for around 40 wins. Once that goal is met, my routine shifts to daily log-ins, pack openings, and a quick Wonder Pick just for fun. This cycle is set to repeat with the launch of the latest expansion, Shining Revelry, on March 27th.
This expansion will enrich the game with 110 new cards, featuring an assortment of new Ex Pokemon, Trainers, and those stunning art cards that have become a hallmark of the series. The highlight, hinted at by the expansion's name, is the introduction of Shiny Pokemon. These are alternate color versions of beloved creatures; think of Lucario in yellow instead of blue, or Pachirisu with a striking pink stripe.
The trailer, which you can view below, offers a tantalizing preview of what's in store. A standout is the new Shiny Charizard Ex, boasting 180 HP and an attack named Steam Artillery that delivers 150 damage at the cost of five energy. Its other move, Stoke, efficiently adds three Fire Energy at once, making it a formidable contender.
Another exciting addition is the Lucario Ex. Previously seen in a more supportive role during the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, this iteration of the Aura Pokemon is ready for frontline combat. With 150 HP and an attack called Aura Sphere, it can deal 100 damage for three Fighting Energy, plus an additional 30 damage to an opponent's Benched Pokemon.
The trailer also teases other cards that, while not game-changers, are visually appealing and exciting additions to any collection. Shiny versions of Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are on their way, alongside a breathtaking Tatsugiri art rare that I'm eager to add to my digital collection.
