How to Become a Shinigami in Hollow Era
At the outset of Hollow Era, you start as a Soul Spirit. To ascend to the role of a Shinigami, or Soul Reaper, you must engage with the NPC named Hurt Shinigami, who beckons for assistance. Accepting her quest commits you to the Shinigami path, locking out the Hollow route—unless you later pursue becoming a Visored. If you're keen on exploring the Hollow archetype, refer to our separate Hollow progression guide.

When choosing your path, act swiftly. To become a Hollow, simply break your chain. However, as a Shinigami, your chain will gradually break over time, with a section breaking every two minutes. If you let the chain fully break, you'll transform into a Hollow. In such a case, our resurrection moves lists will guide you through your Hollow endgame.
Hollow Era Shinigami Quests Guide
Your initial task as a Shinigami is to purify 6 Lost Souls, aligning with the Shinigami's duty to maintain the balance between life and death. Following this, you'll receive a quest to deliver a letter to a Doctor near the hospital, found by the NPC next to Hurt Shinigami.

Early quests provide an excellent opportunity to familiarize yourself with your powers. Purchase a $1,000 random sword of power from a Urakara shop. If your budget allows, consider using the bus stop as a teleport/fast travel option for $200 to navigate the expansive map more efficiently. Alternatively, for a smoother experience, you can invest 149 Robux in the infinite fast travel feature from the Robux Shop.

Subsequent quests are marked with a red crosshair for easy tracking. Progress through defeating one Hollow, then five Corrupted Shinigamis, and so on, until you reach level 15. Quests are categorized into repeatable, progression, and path-specific quests like Vizard and Airwalk.

Full Soul Reaper Skill Tree and Reiatsu
Maximize your Shinigami Reiatsu by strategically investing skill points. The Reiatsu Skill Tree offers a variety of Kido abilities exclusive to Shinigami characters.
Kido and Reiatsu Nodes enhance your damage and maximum Reiatsu output, respectively. Here are some Kido abilities and their effects:
- Caja Negacion: Projects a beam of lightning forward, with an Electric variant that spreads electricity.
- Shakkaho: Creates a red energy ball that explodes on impact. Using Ragdoll can knock back opponents, while Fire ignites them.
- Chain Bind: Summons energy chains to pull enemies toward you.
- Prison of Light: Immobilizes enemies with six light rods, ideal for agile foes.
- Thunder Sear: A slow-moving lightning ball that causes electric damage and explodes, perfect for crowd control.
How to Get Shikai in Hollow Era
To obtain Shikai in Hollow Era, reach level 15 and visit Urihiro to undertake the Shikai Training quest. Your challenge is to defeat Urahara Kisuke to gain 1,700 exp and unlock Shikai powers.

Warning: Facing Kisuke at level 15 can be tough without optimal gear or skills. Consider grinding up to level 25 or higher before attempting this challenge.
Using Shikai
Upon unlocking Shikai, a random mighty ability is assigned to your weapon. If unsatisfied with your sword's new power, you can re-roll it at Urahara Shop for a fee.
The game features a Rage Bar that fills as you deal or take damage. When full, press Y (default keybind) to activate Shikai, which deactivates when your Reiatsu depletes or you release the key.
Hollow Era Shikai Mastering
Your Shikai Mastery Level increases with Mastery Points earned by using Shikai Skills. Higher Mastery Levels reduce Rage consumption during active usage and come with different aura effects and character appearances:
- Mastery Level 1: 1-149 Points, grants Transparent Aura.
- Mastery Level 2: 150-299 Points, grants a brighter aura with particles.
- Mastery Level 3: 300-499 Points, grants a Lightning boost.
- Mastery Level 4: 500+ Points, grants a zone of flying stones around you.
Becoming a Visored in the Hollow Era
Once committed to the Shinigami path, you cannot revert to Hollow—unless you become a Visored. At level 50 or higher, you can unlock the Vizard fighting style at Vizard’s Warehouse, where Shinigami acquire Hollow powers.

To become a Visored, you must obtain Hogyoku, an orb that breaks the barrier between Hollow and Shinigami. Defeating the King of Hueco Mundo—a boss with a mere 1% drop rate for Hogyoku—is the first step. After acquiring Hogyoku, you can unlock the Vizard fighting style.
Hollow Era Visored Mastering
As a Visored, you gain access to unique perks and buffs. Mask Control reduces the risk of being controlled by your inner Hollow, while the Visored node extends mask-wearing duration and boosts damage output with Hollow powers.

Visored Abilities in Hollow Era
- Hollow Mask: Grants control over your inner Hollow, allowing you to wear the mask at will.
- Cero: Charges a beam of Reiatsu, dealing substantial damage.
- Final Cero: Pins an enemy down and crushes them with a powerful Cero from above.
- Vasto Rage: Transforms you into the mightiest Hollow type for a limited time, unleashing your full potential.
What About Hollow Era Bankai?
Currently, Bankai is not available in Hollow Era. Given the game's popularity, future updates may introduce Bankai, though no release date has been confirmed.
Hollow Era Tips and Tricks
- Use the lockup button to target your primary enemy if combat becomes disorienting, especially useful against large Hollows that can pin you down.

- Prioritize Strength and Speed when allocating Skill Points for early game advantages.
