Remedy Entertainment Unveils Development Progress on Upcoming Titles
Remedy Entertainment recently shared updates on its game development pipeline, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor. These updates, released in the company's financial report, shed light on the progress of each project and Remedy's overall publishing strategy.
Control 2 Nears Completion
The highly anticipated Control 2 has reached the "production readiness stage." This signifies a fully playable version exists, and the development team is now focusing on scaling up production, including extensive testing and performance optimization to ensure quality standards are met. Additionally, the Control Ultimate Edition, developed in partnership with Apple, is slated for release on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Active Development
Codename Condor, the Control universe multiplayer spin-off, is currently in full production. The team is actively developing multiple maps and mission types, with internal and limited external playtesting underway to gather feedback and refine gameplay. This marks Remedy's debut in the live-service game market, and the game will utilize a "service-based fixed price" model.
Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne Remake Updates
Alan Wake 2's Night Springs expansion has received positive critical and player reception. The game itself has already recouped the majority of its development and marketing costs. A physical Deluxe Edition will launch on October 22nd, followed by a Collector's Edition in December. Pre-orders are open on the official Alan Wake website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 remake, a co-production with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from the production readiness phase to full production. The team is working on a complete, playable version, focusing on unique gameplay elements to differentiate the remake.
Future of Control and Alan Wake Franchises
Remedy has acquired full rights to the Control franchise from 505 Games, giving them complete control over its future. The company is strategically evaluating self-publishing and other models for both the Control and Alan Wake franchises, with further announcements expected by year's end. This includes exploring self-publishing options and potential partnerships.
Remedy emphasizes the importance of the Control and Alan Wake franchises within its "Remedy Connected Universe," highlighting their growth as a key element of its future strategy. Further updates on these franchises and the company's upcoming games are anticipated throughout the year.
