Square Enix has released SaGa Frontier 2: Remastered for mobile devices and other platforms. Originally launched for the PlayStation in 1999 in Japan, and in 2000 across North America and Europe, this remaster revitalizes the classic with enhanced graphics and additional content.
SaGa Frontier 2: Remastered Is Now Available on Android
SaGa Frontier 2 takes place in the world of Sandail, where magic is channeled through a mysterious energy known as Anima. The narrative primarily follows two protagonists: Gustave, a royal heir with no magical ability, and William Knights, a young adventurer from a lineage of relic hunters seeking ancient artifacts called Quells.
Gustave’s journey begins when he is exiled from the Kingdom of Finney due to his inability to wield Anima—a severe dishonor in a realm where magical prowess is paramount. Wil’s story, on the other hand, centers on uncovering the truth behind his parents’ death and the enigmatic relic known as the Egg, which exerts a strange influence on the human mind.
SaGa Frontier 2: Remastered upgrades the original’s visuals to high-definition resolution. The watercolor-style backgrounds are now strikingly sharp, and the user interface has been redesigned for better navigation while preserving the game’s nostalgic feel.

What Else Is New?
The remaster also introduces new story content that integrates smoothly with the original plot. Its combat system blends turn-based strategy across three distinct battle types: Party Battles, Duels, and Warfare. Party Battles follow traditional RPG conventions, while Duels are tense one-on-one encounters where each move carries significant weight.
Warfare, by contrast, involves large-scale strategic clashes. The combat system remains engaging by avoiding repetition—each battle type demands a unique tactical approach.
Additionally, the game revives the "glimmer" system from its predecessor, allowing characters to learn new techniques during combat, along with a combo mechanic that rewards players for coordinating team attacks. You can experience this refreshed classic by downloading SaGa Frontier 2: Remastered from the Google Play Store.
