*R.E.P.O.*, the thrilling co-op horror game that hit the market in February, has captivated over 200,000 PC players. As fans clamor for more, the burning question on everyone's mind is: will *R.E.P.O.* make its way to consoles? Here’s what you need to know.
Is R.E.P.O. Coming to Consoles?
As of now, *R.E.P.O.* remains a PC-exclusive title, with no plans announced for a console release. The game's developer, semiwork, is currently focused on perfecting the multiplayer experience for PC players. They are grappling with significant challenges, particularly around enhancing multiplayer mechanics while preventing the game from becoming a hotspot for hackers.
"The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that," the developer explained to PCGamer. This complex issue needs resolution before any consideration can be given to a console port.
While other PC-only games like *Mouthwashing* have successfully transitioned to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, which simplifies the porting process. Similarly themed games such as *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which also involve sneaking past monsters, have stayed PC-exclusive. Although the developers of *Content Warning* hinted at a potential console release last year, citing technical difficulties, no further updates have been provided since.
In summary, *R.E.P.O.*'s developer has not shown any interest in bringing the game to consoles. Their primary focus remains on refining the multiplayer aspects for the PC version, leaving console players eagerly awaiting any future announcements.
