Marvel's enduring global popularity, spanning film, television, and video games, is a testament to the groundbreaking work of Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko. Sixty years ago, they launched the Marvel Universe, revolutionizing superhero storytelling and forging interconnected narratives across various comic book properties.
Their innovative approach, particularly during the Silver Age of Comics, significantly shaped the modern entertainment landscape. To appreciate this impact, I embarked on a personal project: rereading every Marvel superhero comic from the 1960s and beyond, starting with the very beginning of the established Marvel canon.
This exploration begins with a look at pivotal early Marvel comics, from the Fantastic Four's 1961 debut to the Avengers' 1963 formation. We'll highlight key character introductions, significant plot developments, and simply memorable issues. This is the first installment in our series examining essential Marvel comics!
