Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former developers from The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, has unveiled its ambitious new project: The Blood of Dawnwalker. While not aiming for a full-scale AAA experience, the team's aspirations are high.
Studio founder Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz stated the goal is to achieve Witcher 3-level quality, albeit on a smaller scale:
“Our aim is AAA quality, akin to The Witcher 3—it's in our DNA. However, as a small studio launching our first title, we're crafting a more concise experience, yet equally refined.”
The estimated playtime is 30-40 hours:
“Comparing anything to The Witcher 3, designed for 100+ hours but often stretching to 200-300, is ambitious. But does sheer size define AAA? Call of Duty is AAA without an extensive campaign. So, is scale truly the defining factor?”
Tomaszkiewicz further downplayed the significance of industry classifications like "AAA" and "AAAA," deeming them largely irrelevant.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is an action RPG centered around a half-vampire racing against a 30-day, 30-night deadline to rescue his loved ones. Despite the time constraint, the developers promise a streamlined and polished gameplay experience. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game is slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with the release date yet to be announced.
