Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals

Author : Blake Update:May 14,2025

The Pokémon Company has taken a significant step to address the ongoing issues fans face in acquiring recent Pokémon Trading Card Game sets. In a recent statement, the company has confirmed that reprints are on the horizon, aiming to alleviate the current shortages and ensure that products reach fans more effectively.

The latest set, Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Destined Rivals, encountered a series of challenges, including product shortages, pre-order complications, and the influence of scalpers. Other highly sought-after sets like Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box have also been notoriously difficult to obtain due to overwhelming demand.

In their statement on the Pokémon website, The Pokémon Company (TPC) acknowledged the difficulties some fans are experiencing in purchasing certain Pokémon Trading Card Game products due to exceptionally high demand. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," the statement emphasized. "Reprinted products are expected to be available at participating retailers as soon as possible."

Furthermore, TPC announced plans to "maximize production" for upcoming TCG expansions to enhance product availability at launch. The company also committed to continually reprinting affected products to replenish stock, including at the Pokémon Center.

In response to scalping issues, The Pokémon Company indirectly addressed the problem by stating their commitment to providing a smooth purchasing experience at the Pokémon Center. They employ technology designed to prioritize fans in the purchasing process, such as a virtual queue system during periods of high site traffic. "We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," the company added, expressing gratitude for the community's patience and support as they strive to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans.

With these measures in place, fans can hope for a more seamless and stress-free experience when collecting and playing the Pokémon TCG with the release of new sets.
