Pokémon GO's New Year's Celebration: A Festive Extravaganza!
Get ready to celebrate the start of 2025 in Pokémon GO! The annual New Year's event returns, running from December 30th, 2024 to January 1st, 2025. This exciting event offers themed bonuses, special Pokémon encounters, and plenty of opportunities to ring in the new year in style.
Following the December 21st-22nd Community Day event featuring returning Community Day Pokémon, the New Year's festivities commence a week later. This year's event includes a fantastic bonus: catch Pokémon with Excellent Throws to earn a whopping 2,025 XP each! Enjoy the immersive atmosphere with festive decorations and celebratory fireworks illuminating the skies.
Expect increased appearances of festively-dressed Pokémon! Keep an eye out for Jigglypuff with a ribbon, Hoothoot in a New Year's outfit, and Wurmple sporting a party hat. Shiny versions of these Pokémon might even make an appearance!
Raids also get a festive makeover. One-star raids feature a snowflake-capped Pikachu, while three-star raids bring party-hat-wearing Raticate and Wobbuffet. Shiny rates for all three are boosted during the event.
For quest enthusiasts, plentiful Field Research and Timed Research tasks offer additional Pokémon encounters. A paid Timed Research ($2) provides exclusive rewards, including three Premium Battle Passes, three Lucky Eggs, 2,025 Stardust, and encounters with event Pokémon.
