Over $8,500 Spent on Poké Gold
Hajimesyacho, a popular YouTuber known for diverse content, revealed his impressive Pokémon TCG Pocket accomplishment on Twitter (X). Since the game's October 30, 2024 launch, he's purchased the maximum 720 Poké Gold daily, totaling an estimated $8,500 (excluding sales). This daily expenditure allowed him to amass 50,000 cards, encompassing cards from Genetic Apex (A1), Mythical Island booster packs, and limited-time promotional cards.
The recently released "Pokedex" Trainer card, awarded for global collection milestones (40 billion cards), further highlights the game's growing popularity.
Pokémon TCG Pocket and McDonald's Team Up
The Pokémon Company announced a surprise collaboration with McDonald's on January 21, 2025. Happy Meal purchases now include exclusive Pokémon TCG Pocket-themed boxes containing collectible physical cards (15 variants, including Miraidon, Roaring Moon, and Rayquaza, with 7 holographic cards) and in-game rewards (24 Pack Hourglasses and 12 Hourglasses).
Four unique box designs featuring Charizard, Rayquaza, Roaring Moon, Dragonite, and Pikachu are available at participating McDonald's locations while supplies last. Remember, in-game rewards expire on March 31, 2025.
Trading Feature and New Booster Pack on the Horizon
Pokémon TCG Pocket announced details regarding its upcoming trading feature on January 17, 2025. Trading will initially be limited to friends with cards of equal rarity (1-4 diamonds and 1-star). Rarer cards are excluded. A consumable item, similar to Stardust in Pokémon GO, will facilitate trades.
While initially focusing on cards from Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island, the developers plan to expand trading options based on player feedback. A new booster pack is also teased for release in January 2025.
