Pokémon GO celebrates its ninth anniversary in 2025, and this Lunar New Year event is one of many planned leading up to the summer and Pokémon GO Fest. It precedes Pokémon GO Tour: Unova (February 21st-23rd in Los Angeles and New Taipei City, global event in March), offering a chance to add new Pokémon to collections beforehand.
The Lunar New Year event runs from January 29th, 10:00 a.m. to February 2nd, 8:00 p.m. local time. Increased Lucky Pokémon rates in trades and Lucky Friend chances are key features. Wild encounters will feature boosted rates for Ekans, Onix, Snivy, Darumaka, Dunsparce, Gyarados, and Dratini, with Shiny possibilities. 2km Eggs will hatch Makuhita, Nosepass, Meditite, Duskull, and Skorupi.
