Pokémon TCG Pocket, released in October 2024, has seen the addition of the Mythical Island booster pack with 68 new cards. With another expansion anticipated in January 2025, concerns arose about the future utility of Pack Hourglasses. However, The Pokémon Company's statement assures players that these hourglasses will continue to reduce booster pack opening delays by one hour, regardless of the expansion. This contradicts speculation about a new in-game currency for expansion-specific hourglasses.
Pack Hourglasses remain a valuable asset. Without them, players rely on Pack Stamina, replenishing every 12 hours, allowing for two pack openings daily. Hourglasses are obtainable through daily challenges and the daily Complimentary Item Set in the shop. Twelve hourglasses are needed to instantly open a pack. Pokémon TCG Pocket utilizes various in-game currencies, including Wonder Hourglasses, different types of Tickets, Poke Gold, and Pack Points.
The confirmation that Pack Hourglasses remain functional should alleviate concerns among players who had been stockpiling them. Given the game's success, further expansions are highly likely, ensuring continued relevance for these helpful items.
