Guns Undarkness Will Launch Demo At Steam Next Fest

Mark your calendars: Guns Undarkness is set to unveil its free demo at the upcoming Steam Next Fest, starting February 24, 2025. This eagerly anticipated game is being spearheaded by none other than Shoji Meguro, the renowned composer from the Persona series and Metaphor: ReFantazio. Joining him are the talented Ghost in the Shell character artist Ilya Kuvshino and rapper Lotus Juice, famous for his contributions to Persona 3.
Since joining Atlus in 1995, Meguro has been a key figure in composing music for acclaimed titles like the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series. In 2021, he ventured into indie game development while still collaborating with Atlus on their soundtracks. Post-Atlus, Meguro has been working on a Sci-Fi Stealth Action JRPG, which will be published under Kodansha Game Creators Lab.
Guns Undarkness was first showcased at Indie Live Expo Winter 2021, and its successful Kickstarter campaign in 2022 surpassed its stretch goals. The game is slated for early access release later this year, following the demo at Steam Next Fest.
Inspired by Metal Gear Solid and Persona

As detailed on its Steam page, Guns Undarkness is described as a "turn-based tactical JRPG inspired by games like Metal Gear Solid and Persona." Set in the year 2045, the game plunges players into a world teetering on the edge of destruction. You'll take on the role of a member of a private military company, tasked with undertaking crucial missions alongside allies to uncover the world's secrets and ultimately save humanity.
The gameplay of Guns Undarkness revolves around two key aspects: stealth and turn-based battles. During stealth sections, players can navigate the field undetected, gaining a strategic advantage in combat when they engage enemies. The turn-based battles require players to issue commands to their characters, making use of various firearms to emerge victorious.
The demo for Guns Undarkness will offer approximately 20 minutes of gameplay, including a tutorial that covers basic controls, the battle system, weapons, and strategies for the game's early stages. The full game is slated for an Early Access release in Spring 2025, offering about 10 hours of playtime on PC. While no specific release date has been officially announced, the anticipation for this title is palpable among fans and gamers alike.
