Developer Pocketpair has announced an exciting new addition to their universe with Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating sim set within their massively popular monster-catching world. Contrary to skepticism fueled by the timing of the announcement on March 31, Pocketpair assures fans that this is no April Fools’ Day prank; the game is indeed real and slated for release on PC via Steam at a future date.
The concept for Palworld! More Than Just Pals emerged from Pocketpair's 2024 April Fools’ Day stunt, which initially introduced the idea as a humorous fake game. Now, it's coming to life, allowing players to immerse themselves in a romantic narrative at Palagos Private Academy. Here, players will enroll as a transfer student and interact with a diverse cast of student Pals, including characters like the “cute” and “mysterious” Katress and the “timid” Chillet, drawn directly from the Palworld universe.
The official description from Pocketpair teases a multifaceted experience: “You, the protagonist, enroll as a transfer student in the prestigious Palagos Private Academy. You will meet unique friends (pals) and enjoy school life through friendship and romance. It's up to you whether you stay friends with the pals, develop romantic relationships with them, or even dismember and eat them.”
As anticipation builds, Pocketpair’s original game, Palworld, celebrated its one-year anniversary in January 2025 and continues to evolve with regular updates. The latest patch introduced crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, photo mode, and more, keeping the community engaged while they await Palworld! More Than Just Pals. Additionally, there's hope among fans for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld, and while nothing is confirmed, the possibility of the dating sim making its way to the console adds another layer of excitement.
For those skeptical about the announcement, Bucky from the Palworld team took to social media to clarify: "This doesn't concern April Fools :)" reaffirming the legitimacy of Palworld! More Than Just Pals.
