Palworld developer Pocketpair is finalizing its highly anticipated crossplay update, slated for release in late March 2025. A recent X/Twitter post confirmed this update will introduce cross-platform multiplayer, allowing players across all platforms to team up. The update will also add world transfer for Pals, enhancing the cooperative gameplay experience. While specifics remain limited, a promotional image depicts a thrilling battle featuring numerous Palworld characters facing off against a colossal Pal.

Pocketpair's Communications Director and Publishing Manager, John 'Bucky' Buckley, hinted at "a few little surprises" included in the March update, adding to the anticipation. This news is particularly exciting for the game's 32 million players since its early access launch in January 2024. Pocketpair has unveiled an extensive content roadmap for Palworld in 2025, including the crossplay feature, a concluding scenario, and additional content for this popular creature-catching survival game.
Palworld's successful launch on Steam (priced at $30) and simultaneous release on Xbox and PC Game Pass a year ago shattered sales and concurrent player records. Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe revealed that the game's initial success was so overwhelming that the developer struggled to manage the resulting substantial profits. Despite this, Pocketpair quickly leveraged Palworld's success, forming a partnership with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, a new venture dedicated to expanding the IP and bringing the game to the PS5.
Currently overshadowing this success is an ongoing legal dispute with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. The lawsuit alleges Palworld infringes on multiple patent rights, seeking an injunction and compensation for damages. Pocketpair has responded by publicly identifying the patents in question and has made adjustments to the Pal summoning mechanics within the game. The developer remains steadfast in its commitment to defend its position, stating, “We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings.”
