Nintendo has officially confirmed that players will be able to utilize the Switch 2 Joy-Con's innovative mouse controls on the Home screen, adding a new layer of interaction to the console's interface. Since the unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2, the gaming community has been buzzing with excitement over the potential uses of the new Joy-Con's mouse functionality. Just last month, we received official confirmation that the Joy-Con can switch to "mouse mode," allowing users to glide the controllers across a flat surface and use the analog sticks to mimic left-click and right-click actions, much like a traditional mouse. Furthermore, the flexibility of using two Joy-Con in mouse mode at the same time, either one in each hand or in a mixed configuration with one in standard mode, opens up a multitude of control options for gamers.
The latest development, showcased through the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter, reveals that the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls extend to navigating the Home menu on the Switch 2. As demonstrated in a recent post:

Nintendo detailed the functionality, explaining that "if you place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen." They further instructed that to activate the cursor, users should position the Joy-Con 2 on a flat surface like a table and move it as demonstrated. Additionally, Nintendo noted that "while using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus," and these controls are applicable not only on the Home menu but also within compatible software. To revert to thumbstick control, simply adjust the Joy-Con 2 to a horizontal position.
While the full extent of game compatibility with the mouse controls remains undisclosed, Nintendo has already showcased this technology working seamlessly with the Switch 2 versions of Mario Party Jamboree, Metroid Prime 4, and the unique wheelchair basketball game, Drag x Drive.
The eagerly awaited Nintendo Switch 2 is slated to launch on June 5. Pre-orders for the console opened on April 24, maintaining a price point of $449.99 — and the response has been nothing short of phenomenal.
