Nintendo Switch 2 fans are buzzing, but not about the console itself. The excitement now centers on something seemingly minor: the size of its game cases. A French retailer, Fnac, appears to have leaked the dimensions, sparking a flurry of online discussion.
According to Nintendo Life, journalist Felipe Lima discovered a listing for a Take-Two Interactive game for the Switch 2, revealing its case dimensions. If accurate, these dimensions indicate slightly larger game boxes than those used for the original Nintendo Switch.
A Reddit post by HertzBurst visually compares the two box sizes. The leaked dimensions are reportedly 5.1 inches (13 centimeters) by 7.7 inches (19.5 centimeters).
While larger than the original Switch cases, they remain significantly smaller than those for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 games. Although unofficial, the leaked dimensions make sense; retailers would need these details well in advance to prepare for stock and display arrangements.
The Nintendo Switch 2 release seems imminent. While Nintendo remains tight-lipped on release dates, speculation points towards a launch between June and September. This timeframe is suggested by upcoming hands-on events concluding in June and a statement from Nacon, the publisher of Greedfall 2, indicating a pre-September release.
The Nintendo Switch 2 was first unveiled in January with a short trailer showcasing backwards compatibility and a second USB-C port. Many details, including the game lineup and the purpose of a new Joy-Con button, remain shrouded in mystery, though the “Joy-Con mouse” theory has gained some traction.
