Nintendo has announced the pricing for upgrading two more popular titles from the original Nintendo Switch to the enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 editions: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. However, these upgrades come with a hefty price tag.
Previously, upgrading games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from the original Switch version to the Switch 2 Edition cost players $9.99 each. However, as NintendoLife has reported, the cost to upgrade both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree is significantly higher, more than double the price at $19.99 each.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild offers improved visuals and performance, achievements, and supports the new "Zelda Notes" service within the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original game on the Switch can access these enhancements by purchasing an "upgrade pack" for $10.
The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces new story content called Star-Crossed World. On the other hand, the Switch 2 Edition of Super Mario Party Jamboree features a new content suite called Jamboree TV, which leverages the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, Switch 2 microphone, and the Switch 2 USB-C camera (sold separately). Both games also boast upgraded resolution up to 1440p in TV mode, improved frame rates, new minigames, and enhanced online functionalities.
Although U.S. prices on the American Nintendo eShop are not yet available—potentially due to President Trump's tariffs—the UK Nintendo eShop lists the upgrade for Kirby and the Forgotten Land at £16.99 / €19.99, which is over twice the £7.99 / €9.99 required for upgrading either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom. The same price applies to the Super Mario Party Jamboree upgrade, suggesting a U.S. price of $19.99.
The higher $20 upgrade cost for both games could be influenced by the $80 price tag of the full Nintendo Switch 2 editions: Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV. The original Switch versions of these games are priced at $59.99 each, making them $20 cheaper than their Switch 2 counterparts.
For those not upgrading, here's the cost of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games in the U.S.:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - $79.99
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99
Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - $79.99
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $79.99
It's worth noting that both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrade packs are available at no extra cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers. Unfortunately, there is no similar offer for players looking to upgrade Kirby or Party Jamboree.
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders opened on April 24, with the console priced at $449.99. The pre-orders were highly sought after, and Nintendo has warned U.S. customers who pre-ordered through the My Nintendo Store that delivery on the release date is not guaranteed due to overwhelming demand.
