Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following recent claims by American accessory maker Genki, Nintendo has officially refuted rumors surrounding a purported Nintendo Switch 2 showcase at CES 2025. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper report Nintendo's statement that the images and videos circulating are not official. The company explicitly denies providing Genki with any Switch 2 hardware.
Genki, known for its range of gaming accessories including controllers and SSDs, generated significant buzz at CES 2025 by presenting a 3D-printed model of a device it claimed to be the Switch 2. They further asserted possession of a functional Switch 2 unit and even hinted at a release date. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, complete with a detailed animated mockup.
This contradicts Nintendo's official silence on the Switch 2's specifics, aside from confirming backwards compatibility with the original Switch. This recent denial from Nintendo suggests an official announcement regarding the next-generation console may be imminent.
