Nintendo's Latest Announcement: A LEGO Game Boy!
Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up again, this time producing a LEGO Game Boy set! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES release.
While exciting news for fans of both brands, the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked considerable speculation about the Nintendo Switch 2. Many users playfully interpreted the LEGO Game Boy as a cryptic reveal of the next console.
Although details on the Switch 2 remain scarce, Nintendo President Furukawa confirmed in May 2024 that a successor to the Switch would be announced within their fiscal year (ending March). Patience is key!
Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy is yet to be revealed, but further information is expected soon.
Previous Nintendo/LEGO Collaborations
Beyond the NES, Nintendo and LEGO have previously collaborated on sets featuring iconic characters from popular franchises, including Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda.
A notable example is the May 2024 release of a 2,500-piece LEGO set depicting the Great Deku Tree from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. Featuring Princess Zelda and the Master Sword, this set retails for $299.99 USD.
Following this, a Super Mario World set featuring Mario riding Yoshi was launched two months later. This unique set, priced at $129.99 USD, recreates the in-game sprite with a rotating crank to animate Yoshi's leg movement.
