Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
To commemorate NieR's 15th anniversary, Square Enix announced a range of new projects and events. During the livestream on April 19, they introduced the online Special Novel titled [U]ndecided Option. This novel will unfold in three updates, with the first already available, and the next two scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The story teases a mysterious encounter between a 'servant' and a boy with an enigmatic aura.
To complement these announcements, Square Enix launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, serving as the hub for the online novel and other related projects and events.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork featuring the protagonists from NieR: Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Details on tickets and other information will be forthcoming.
Additional dates for the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 have been scheduled for Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets for these concerts are available through a lottery system, with more information accessible on the concert's official website.
A variety of new merchandise has been unveiled, including a jazz album from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024, the NieR Weapon Story book featuring over 650 weapon stories from across the series, and scale figures of the NieR protagonists.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
Starting April 28, NieR Re[in]carnation, the first mobile title in the NieR series released in January 2021 and shut down in April 2024 due to monetization issues, will launch a developer blog. This blog will offer monthly updates throughout the year, providing insights into the development process of Re[in]carnation.
Despite the game's closure, the introduction of a developer blog has sparked speculation among fans about potential sequels or remakes. However, Square Enix has not confirmed any such plans.
The livestream concluded with an over 20-minute live performance featuring soundtracks from the NieR franchise. With more events and merchandise on the horizon, Square Enix continues to celebrate NieR's rich legacy.
