Hotta Studios' upcoming open-world RPG, Neverness to Everness, is gearing up for its first closed beta test. Unfortunately, this initial test will be exclusive to mainland China.
Gematsu recently highlighted new lore details for the game, which shouldn't surprise those familiar with the Eibon city trailers (see below). The expanded lore emphasizes a blend of comedic and serious tones, showcasing the unique coexistence of the bizarre and the ordinary within the game's Hetherau setting.
Hotta Studios, a subsidiary of Perfect World (creators of the popular Tower of Fantasy), is venturing into a competitive 3D RPG market increasingly focused on urban environments. Neverness to Everness aims to stand out with several key features.
One notable addition is open-world driving. Players can enjoy high-speed city chases, customizing and purchasing a range of vehicles. However, realistic damage models mean reckless driving has consequences.
The game faces significant competition upon release. It will contend not only with MiHoYo's Zenless Zone Zero, a benchmark in mobile 3D open-world RPGs, but also NetEase's Ananta (formerly Project Mugen), developed by Naked Rain, which occupies a similar niche.
