Netflix has officially teamed up with the creators of the acclaimed video game Sifu to bring its intense narrative to the big screen. The film adaptation, initially announced in 2022, was being developed by Story Kitchen in collaboration with Sloclap, the game's developer. However, recent updates from Deadline reveal that the production team has significantly expanded.

The streaming giant has enlisted T.S. Nowlin, renowned for his work on the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's Project Adam, to craft the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad, who was previously involved in adapting Sifu's story, might still be part of the project, his current role remains uncertain.
Adding to the project's allure, Chad Stahelski, the visionary director behind the John Wick series, along with his production company 87Eleven Entertainment, has joined as executive producers. Stahelski is also currently involved in another high-profile video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima.
Sifu, released in 2022, became an instant success, selling over one million copies within just three weeks. The game follows the gripping tale of a young martial artist on a quest for vengeance following their master's murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that allows resurrection at the expense of aging several years with each death, the protagonist navigates a perilous journey through a world filled with danger and intrigue.
