NetherRealm Studios has unveiled the first gameplay footage for the T-1000, a new DLC guest character for Mortal Kombat 1, alongside the announcement of Madam Bo as a DLC Kameo fighter. The T-1000's gameplay harks back to Terminator 2, featuring signature attacks like blade and hook arms, reminiscent of characters like Baraka and Kabal. Notably, the T-1000 also demonstrates a liquid metal transformation, executing an uppercut similar to that of Glacius from Killer Instinct.
The T-1000 is voiced and modeled after Robert Patrick, reprising his iconic role from the 1991 film. The teaser showcases Patrick's voice during a confrontation with Johnny Cage and includes a Fatality inspired by the chase scene in Terminator 2. In this Fatality, the T-1000 morphs out of a truck's driver seat to unleash a barrage of bullets on Cage.
Simultaneously, NetherRealm surprised fans by revealing Madam Bo, a beloved character from *Mortal Kombat 1*'s base story, as a new Kameo fighter. Madam Bo, known for her fierce defense against Smoke and his minions, is briefly showcased in the teaser, assisting the T-1000 during a match. Both the T-1000 and Madam Bo will be available starting March 18, with early access for Khaos Reigns owners, and a wider release on March 25. The T-1000 marks the final character addition to Mortal Kombat 1 under the Khaos Reigns expansion, joining other fighters such as Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian.
Speculation continues among fans regarding potential future content, including a possible third Kombat Pack, amidst questions about the game's sales performance. However, Warner Bros. Discovery has reaffirmed its commitment to the Mortal Kombat franchise, with CEO David Zaslav stating plans to focus on just four key titles, including Mortal Kombat.

In an interview with IGN in June 2023, Boon cited the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the switch to a newer version of the Unreal game engine as reasons for focusing on Mortal Kombat 1 instead of an Injustice sequel. He emphasized that the door is not closed on the Injustice franchise, leaving room for potential future developments.
