Marvel's Moon Knight: Future Appearances Confirmed, Season 2 Unlikely
While a second season of Moon Knight on Disney+ is off the table, Marvel has confirmed Oscar Isaac's character will return to the MCU in a different capacity. Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, revealed this in an interview with ComicBook.
The shift away from a Season 2 stems from a change in Marvel Television's strategy. Initially, the focus was on establishing characters through standalone series before integrating them into larger MCU projects (like Ms. Marvel leading to The Marvels). Now, the approach is geared towards producing self-contained, annually released shows, more akin to traditional television.
Winderbaum stated, "Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future…moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road.”
While Isaac voiced Moon Knight in Marvel's What If…?, his future live-action appearances remain unannounced.
The MCU's upcoming TV slate includes Daredevil: Born Again (March), Ironheart (June), Eyes of Wakanda (August), Marvel Zombies (October), and Wonder Man (December). Recently, development on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. was reportedly paused, but Winderbaum hinted at the possibility of a Defenders reunion, featuring Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist.
