Rifts in games are rarely positive, but Avid Games has embraced this concept wholeheartedly in their latest game, Eerie Worlds. This eagerly anticipated sequel to Cards, the Universe and Everything retains the fun and educational elements of its predecessor, but this time, the focus is on monsters – specifically, monsters emerging from rifts.
Eerie Worlds boasts a visually diverse roster of monsters, each inspired by real-world mythological and folkloric horrors. The game's impressive scope includes creatures from diverse cultures and mythologies. You'll encounter Japanese Yokai like Jikininki and Kuchisake-onna, Slavic monsters such as Vodyanoy and Psoglav, and a host of other chilling creatures including Bigfoot, Mothman, the Nandi Bear, and El Chupacabra, each accompanied by detailed descriptions.
The game features four Alliances (Grimbald, Zerrofel, Rivin, and Synnig) and multiple Hordes, creating strategic depth through varying monster properties. Players build a "Grimoire," their personal monster collection, which can be upgraded by merging duplicate cards. The initial 160 basic cards expand significantly through merging, with more additions planned. Avid Games has also promised two additional Hordes in the coming months, ensuring ongoing gameplay evolution.
Gameplay involves nine 30-second turns, each demanding strategic mana management and synergy exploitation. Players use a deck of nine monster cards and one world card. With its complex mechanics, Eerie Worlds offers a challenging yet rewarding experience. Download it for free now on the Google Play Store and the App Store.
