As we approach the August launch of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami has unveiled the stealth action game's cinematic opening sequence.
While featuring subtle variations, the sequence remains instantly recognizable to series veterans — from the newspaper montage to the iconic James Bond-style theme song performed once again by original vocalist Cynthia Harrell.
The trailer offers tantalizing glimpses of key game moments (naturally without context), including Snake's dramatic waterfall dive and the infamous snake-eating sequence that gives the game its namesake.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater recreates Konami's classic 2004 stealth action title (originally released without the "Delta" designation). Konami recently confirmed the August 28 release date and revealed the return of fan-favorite Snake vs. Monkey minigame. The remake will preserve all original mature content, including the controversial Peep Demo Theatre mode as indicated by recent age rating disclosures.
"Metal Gear Solid Delta presents itself more as a visually enhanced remaster than the comprehensive remake some might have expected," noted IGN in our hands-on preview, which analyzed Snake's newly implemented optional first-person view. "It delivers a stunning nostalgia experience, though some might argue it remains too faithful to its source material." The original 2004 release earned an outstanding 9.6/10 score from IGN.
