Initially, you'll find many quality-of-life features locked, but as you progress, options like 2X battle speed and auto-battling will become available. Don't worry if you can't summon a high-rarity hero right away, as the summoning system includes a pity mechanism. Every set of 10 summons guarantees at least one SS rarity hero, while every 100 summons ensures at least one SSS rarity hero.
