Let's jump right in this month, making up for last month's slightly delayed guide. A fresh month and season are here, and I'm ready to offer deck-building strategies to keep you competitive in Marvel Snap (Free). Honestly, the game felt pretty balanced last month. However, a new season introduces new cards, so expect the meta to shift. Let's predict the upcoming trends. Remember: today's winning deck might be obsolete tomorrow. These guides offer insights, but they aren't the only strategy you should employ.
Note: Most decks listed are currently top-tier, assuming a complete card collection. I'll present five of the strongest current Marvel Snap decks, plus a couple of more accessible, fun options.
Most Young Avengers cards haven't significantly impacted the meta. Kate Bishop remains strong, and Marvel Boy benefits 1-Cost Kazoo decks, but others haven't made a huge splash. The new Amazing Spider-Season and Activate ability, however, are game-changers. Next month's meta will be drastically different.
Kazar and Gilgamesh
Cards Included: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird
Surprisingly, Kazoo is a top deck thanks to the Young Avengers. The core strategy remains familiar: deploy low-cost cards, then buff with Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy provides additional buffs, and Gilgamesh greatly benefits. Kate Bishop helps fill spots for Dazzler and reduces Mockingbird's cost. A strong performer, but its longevity remains to be seen.
Silver Surfer Remains Dominant, Part II
Cards Included: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool
Silver Surfer continues his reign, with minor adjustments for balance changes and new cards. The classic Nova/Killmonger combo boosts cards. Forge enhances Brood's clones. Gwenpool buffs hand cards, Shaw gains power from buffs, Hope provides extra Energy, Cassandra Nova drains opponent's power, and Surfer/Absorbing Man secures victory. Copycat replaces Red Guardian, proving a versatile asset.
Spectrum and Man-Thing Ongoing
Cards Included: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum
The Ongoing archetype also excels. This deck features cards with Ongoing abilities, boosted by Spectrum's final-turn buff. The Luke Cage/Man-Thing combo is powerful, with Luke protecting cards from US Agent. The deck's ease of play is a plus, and Cosmo's utility is likely to increase.
Discard Dracula
Cards Included: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse
A classic Apocalypse-style Discard deck, featuring Moon Knight (buffed and improved). Morbius and Dracula are key cards; ideally, you'll end the final round with only Apocalypse, which Dracula consumes for a powerful boost, while Morbius benefits from discarding. Collector can also be effective with sufficient Swarm plays.
Destroy
Cards Included: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death
A nearly traditional Destroy deck, with Attuma's recent buff making him a strong addition. Destroy Deadpool and Wolverine, gain extra energy with X-23, and finish with a Nimrod swarm or Knull. Arnim Zola's absence is notable, likely due to increased counter-measures.
Here are a couple of fun decks for those with smaller collections or seeking variety:
Darkhawk's Return
Cards Included: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature
A competitive Darkhawk deck. Korg and Rockslide add cards to the opponent's deck. It also includes disruptive cards like Spider-Ham and Cassandra Nova, plus discard effects to reduce Stature's cost.
Budget Kazar
Cards Included: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught
A beginner-friendly Kazar deck. While not as consistently winning as the premium version, it teaches the combo strategy. It features the Kazar/Blue Marvel synergy, enhanced by Onslaught.
This month's deck guide concludes. With the new season and potential balance changes, October's meta will likely differ significantly. The Activate ability and Symbiote Spider-Man are game-changers. It's interesting to see classic decks return to dominance, but this is unlikely to last. Until next time… happy snapping!
