NetEase Games has confirmed a robust post-launch content plan for Marvel Rivals, promising a new playable hero every six weeks. This ambitious schedule, detailed by creative director Guangyun Chen in an interview with Metro, will see at least one new character introduced every month and a half, coinciding with the release of new seasonal stories and maps. Each three-month season will be divided into two halves, each featuring a new hero.
"Every season will bring fresh seasonal stories, new maps, and new heroes. We're splitting each season into two halves," Chen explained. "A season lasts three months, and each half will introduce a new hero. Our goal is to continuously enhance the experience and keep our community engaged."
This rapid release schedule raises the question of which Marvel heroes will be added next. Season 1: Eternal Night Falls successfully launched with Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the first half, followed by The Thing and the Human Torch in the second. While maintaining this level of excitement and introducing popular characters like Blade (rumored for Season 2), Daredevil, Deadpool, and other X-Men remains a significant challenge.
Marvel Rivals already boasts a strong roster including Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, Jeff the Landshark, and Storm. However, the sheer number of potential Marvel characters to incorporate presents a substantial opportunity for future expansion. Given the game's current success, NetEase shows no signs of slowing down its development.
Season 1 also included numerous balance adjustments and gameplay refinements, with further updates promised. For more on Marvel Rivals, including strategies like using Invisible Woman against bots, the Hero Hot List, and discussions on modding, refer to the linked articles.
