Sony confirmed plans to gradually phase out PS4 games from PlayStation Plus Essentials monthly offerings and the Game Catalog starting January 2026, shifting focus entirely to PS5 titles.
"As we transition to PS5, PS4 games will no longer be a core benefit and will only occasionally appear in PlayStation Plus Monthly Games and Game Catalog," Sony stated. Previously claimed monthly titles won't be affected, though Game Catalog games will remain playable only until they're rotated out.
"We'll continue enhancing PlayStation Plus with benefits including exclusive discounts, online multiplayer access, cloud saves, and more," Sony added. "With our focus shifting to PS5, we're excited to deliver more PS5-exclusive titles monthly."
