Street Fighter 6 welcomes a new fighter, reigniting player interest. The popular Capcom fighting game, boasting 4.4 million copies sold by December 31st, 2024, has added Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series.
This addition, the third character in the game's second season, has significantly boosted Street Fighter 6's popularity. Steam's peak online player count surged to over 63,000 on the day of Mai's release, a substantial increase from the previous peak of 24-27,000—the highest since May 2024.
Access to Mai is granted through the Battle Pass. World Tour mode allows players to build relationships with Mai, learn her moves, and subsequently test them in Battle Hub. A second costume, drawing inspiration from her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, has also been introduced.
A temporary addition to Battle Hub is Professor Woshige, a renowned fighting game developer, available until March 10th. The update also includes new Master League ranks and rewards.
Capcom showcased Mai's fighting style in a recently released trailer.
