Tony Hawk Hints at a 25th Anniversary Celebration for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
The legendary Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise is turning 25, and Tony Hawk himself has confirmed that Activision is planning a special anniversary celebration.
Anniversary Plans Underway
In a recent appearance on Mythical Kitchen, Hawk revealed that discussions with Activision are underway, stating, "We're working on something—This is the first time I've said that publicly." While details remain scarce, he assured fans that the plans will be something they'll appreciate.
Past Projects and Future Speculation
The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater launched on September 29, 1999. The franchise's success led to numerous sequels and, in 2020, a remastered collection of THPS 1+2. While plans for remastered versions of THPS 3+4 existed, they were ultimately canceled following the closure of Vicarious Visions.
The official THPS social media accounts have been celebrating the anniversary with new artwork and a giveaway of the THPS 1+2 Collector's Edition. This, coupled with Hawk's recent comments, has fueled speculation about a potential new game announcement, possibly during a rumored Sony State of Play event. However, the exact nature of the anniversary project remains unconfirmed. It could be a new game, a continuation of the remastered project, or something entirely different.
