Konami Teases MGS4 PS5/Xbox Port

With Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 rumored for release on next-gen consoles, Konami has responded to speculation about a potential Metal Gear Solid 4 remake and its inclusion on PS5, Xbox, and the collection's anticipated platforms.

In a recent interview with IGN, Konami producer Noriaki Okamura suggested the possibility of MGS Master Collection Vol. 2 including a remake of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4) and next-gen console ports. When questioned about bringing the popular 2008 game to current platforms like the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, Okamura acknowledged the significant anticipation but offered no specifics.

"We are certainly aware of the interest in MGS4," Okamura told IGN. "However, we can't comment much now, with Vol. 1 featuring MGS 1-3... you can likely infer! Currently, we're internally focused on the franchise's future. Apologies, we can't disclose anything at present. But keep watching!"

Many enthusiasts have wondered if the game, which has remained exclusive to the PS3 since its launch, could be included in a potential Master Collection Vol. 2. Given last year's release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 containing the remastered versions of the series' first three games on next-gen platforms including the PC and Switch, an MGS4 PS5 port and such might materialize.

Rumors of the MGS4 remake gained momentum last year, when reports noted planned placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appearing on Konami's official Metal Gear Solid timeline page. IGN further reported that these three titles are likely to be part of the unannounced Master Collection Vol. 2. Though, Konami has yet to officially confirm this.

Adding to the conjecture, Solid Snake English voice actor David Hayter hinted on social media last November at his involvement in something that seemed related to MGS4, sparking further discussion within the community. As of now, Konami has not revealed the contents, nor any of its concrete plans, for a highly anticipated MGS4 remake in Master Collection Vol. 2.
