On March 7th, 2025, Tripwire, the developer behind Killing Floor 3 (KF3), made a significant announcement on the game's official Bluesky account. The eagerly awaited survival horror co-op shooter will now see a release later in 2025, following a less than satisfactory beta test. This news, coming just three weeks before the original launch date of March 25th, has left fans both surprised and disappointed.
"We’ve decided to delay the launch of Killing Floor 3 to a yet-to-be-determined date later this year. After reviewing feedback from our recent closed beta, it's clear we have more work to do. Our aim is not only to push the boundaries of the franchise but to preserve the essence that fans cherish," Tripwire stated. They highlighted key areas needing improvement, including "performance/stability, UI/UX, lighting, and weapon feel."

Community feedback on social media was overwhelmingly critical. Players described the beta as "insanely clunky and clumsy," and an "unpolished, glitch-ridden, vomit-inducing wreck." A notable Reddit user, Captain_Pugman, expressed disappointment, stating, "At what point did you forget what made Killing Floor special? Right now, Killing Floor 3 seems to be everything but a true Killing Floor experience." Many echoed concerns over the shift from horror to a futuristic sci-fi theme, and the restrictive class and character selection system during the beta.
Despite the setback, Tripwire remains optimistic, promising fans, "We eagerly anticipate sharing a more refined version of Killing Floor 3. We'll keep you updated as we progress, and we deeply appreciate your patience and support."
Pre-Orders Will Be Refunded Automatically, Except on Steam

In response to the delay, Senior Community Manager Yoshiro provided clarity on the Killing Floor 3 forums regarding pre-order refunds. Once the delay is updated across all platforms, automatic refund and cancellation processes will commence.
For those who pre-ordered on PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Game Store, refunds will be processed automatically without any action required from the user. However, U.S. PlayStation users will have the option to either cancel their pre-order for a refund or retain it for the new release date. If no action is taken within a specified timeframe, the pre-order will be canceled and refunded by default.
Steam users, however, will need to manually initiate a refund by canceling their order and requesting a refund through Steam's support system. Customers who pre-ordered through third-party platforms not mentioned will need to follow the refund policies of those specific vendors.
