Keanu Reeves offers the most encouraging update yet on Constantine 2, confirming a script is now in the works.
John Constantine, the occult detective and exorcist from DC Comics, was memorably portrayed by Reeves in the 2005 film adaptation, which achieved cult classic status. For two decades, fans have clamored for a sequel, a desire Reeves has openly shared.
Now, Constantine 2 appears closer to reality following Reeves' confirmation of a successful pitch meeting at DC Studios.
"We've been trying to make this film for over a decade, and we just recently put a story together and pitched it to DC Studios and they said, ‘Okay,’” Reeves told Inverse. “So, we're going to try and write a script.”

While promising, it's crucial to remember that DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran haven't officially greenlit Constantine 2. The project isn't yet confirmed for the rebooted DCU, and neither Gunn nor Safran has publicly acknowledged it. Therefore, its future remains uncertain.
However, Reeves hinted that, if produced, Constantine 2 will remain within the same universe as the original. "We're not going off that," he assured, adding playfully: "John Constantine's going to be tortured even more."
Reeves' statement follows comments from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura in September, who revealed that a Constantine 2 script existed but admitted his apprehension about reading it.
Speaking to ComicBook, di Bonaventura stated the script was in his inbox, expressing his desire for it to be exceptional.
"You know it's in my inbox right now, funny enough,” he said. “I'm too scared to read it, though, I want it to be good so bad. I’ll probably read it in the next few days, when I get on an airplane."
