Reznor and Ross's Golden Globe Win Fuels Anticipation for Intergalactic Soundtrack
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the composers behind the upcoming Naughty Dog game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, have added another accolade to their impressive list of achievements: a Golden Globe for Best Original Score. This award recognizes their work on Luca Guadagnino's film Challengers.
The recent Intergalactic trailer showcased a preview of Reznor and Ross's composition, alongside licensed music featured in the game. Known for their enduring collaboration with Nine Inch Nails and their critically acclaimed scores for films directed by David Fincher and Pete Docter, the duo previously won an Academy Award for The Social Network and Soul, along with numerous Grammys, an Emmy, and a BAFTA. Reznor also has prior experience composing for video games, having created the soundtrack for Quake (1996) and the main theme for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
Accepting the Golden Globe for Challengers, Ross described the score as "never…a safe choice, but it always felt like the right one." The contemporary electronic music perfectly complements the film's themes of athleticism and sensuality. Given their current creative momentum, Intergalactic's soundtrack is poised to be a standout.
Golden Globe Success Boosts Intergalactic Hype
While their origins in Nine Inch Nails' industrial rock might seem unexpected, Reznor and Ross have consistently demonstrated versatility. Their work ranges from the haunting soundscapes of The Social Network to the ethereal beauty of Soul. With online speculation suggesting horror elements in Intergalactic, their selection as composers seems particularly fitting.
The Golden Globe win further elevates their already prominent careers, generating considerable buzz for Intergalactic. This upcoming title could mark a significant shift for Naughty Dog, and given the composers' impeccable track record, the soundtrack promises to be exceptional, regardless of the game's final form.
