Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 Leak Hints at Free 4-Star Character Selector
Recent leaks suggest Honkai: Star Rail's Version 3.1 update will include a free 4-star character selector, potentially as part of a limited-time event. This selector would allow players to choose one of four characters: Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta.
The game's current roster boasts 23 4-star characters, with varying degrees of meta relevance. While some, like Moze and Gallagher, have gained popularity, many 4-stars require significant Eidolon investment to reach their full potential. Past updates offered similar free selectors, facilitating Eidolon acquisition. This Version 3.1 leak suggests a return of this popular feature.
Leakers, including HomDGCat, point to the inclusion of Qingque, Pela, Serval, and Asta in this selector. Interestingly, all four debuted in Version 1.0, with Asta even being an early-game acquisition. This leak further supports speculation that developer HoYoverse may be focusing on 5-star character releases, potentially explaining the lack of new 4-star additions. The almost 40 existing 5-star characters compared to the 23 4-star units highlights this disparity. With eight more 5-star characters anticipated in Version 3.0 and a potential Fate/Stay Night crossover adding two more, the gap continues to widen.
Version 2.0 only introduced four new 4-star characters (including March 7th's alternate form). If the current trend continues, future 4-star selectors might lack sufficient new unit options.
