Hades II: Olympus Expansion Unveiled

Melinoe and foes get stronger, and an all-new region to explore is getting rolled out with Hades 2's first major update, "The Olympic Update."

"Our first major update is finally here," developer Supergiant Games said in its announcement today of Hades 2's first major update, The Olympic Update, "In the coming weeks, we will be closely monitoring player feedback to ensure our latest changes are robust." Hades 2 has just launched The Olympic Update featuring several exciting additions including an all-new region, weapon to master, more characters, along with new Animal Familiars to bond with, and much more!

The following are the highlights included in Hades 2's "practically mountain-sized" The Olympic Update:

　⚫︎　New Weapon: Wield the otherworldly might of Xinth, the Black Coat — last of the Nocturnal Arms
　⚫︎　New Characters: Track down two new allies in their home turf and earn their favor
　⚫︎　New Familiars: You can now bond with two new animal companions... once you find them!
　⚫︎　Crossroads Renewal: Unlock dozens of new cosmetic items to enhance the Crossroads
　⚫︎　Expanded Story: Discover hours of new dialogue, as the plot deepens upon reaching the new Region
　⚫︎　World Map: Look for this new presentation when traveling between Regions
　⚫︎　Mac Support: The game now runs natively on Macs with Apple M1 chips or later

Hades 2, the sequel to Supergiant Games' acclaimed 2020 roguelike action-adventure title, is currently in early access, with the full game and console launches expected around next year. Released on PC in early access back in May, Hades 2 has been praised for its strong replay value and substantial content at this stage of development. With its first major update, Hades 2 also looks to add more hours of content, with new dialogue and voice lines as the game's plot progresses—and things will surely heat up with the addition of Olympus, the mythical home of the Greek gods and Zeus's throne.

Apart from these, a number of nighttime Arms and Abilities have been revised, such as the Specials for the Witch's Staff, Sister Blades, Shadow Flames, and Moonstone Axe that will help Melinoe adapt to your preferred playstyle. Melinoe's Dash has also been revised to be faster and more responsive, making escaping hit-stun attacks quicker. As Melinoe gets an update, however, so do your foes and the lurking perils.

Supergiant Games has added diverse enemies to accompany the new Mt. Olympus region, including new Wardens and a new Guardian. Furthermore, with the addition of a third region, various enemy adjustments on the Surface have also been implemented:

　⚫︎　Chronos: reduced downtime between stages; other minor adjustments
　⚫︎　Eris: various adjustments; she is now less likely to stand in flames
　⚫︎　Infernal Beast: reappears sooner after the battle's first stage; various minor adjustments
　⚫︎　Polyphemus: no longer summons Elite opponents; other minor adjustments
　⚫︎　Charybdis: reduced number of stages; attacks with increased intensity and reduced downtime
　⚫︎　Headmistress Hecate: now loses invulnerability sooner after her Sisters of the Dead are defeated
　⚫︎　For certain ranged attackers, fewer will fire simultaneously
　⚫︎　Various other minor changes to foes and combat scenarios
