With the arrival of a brand-new Call of Duty Zombies map comes an exciting revival—the Staff of Ice, a fan-favorite Wonder Weapon originally from Black Ops II's Origins, has made its triumphant return in Black Ops 6 Zombies. Now available on the map The Tomb, this powerful weapon brings frosty devastation to hordes of undead. Here’s everything you need to know about how to obtain the Staff of Ice—no luck required.
Can You Get the Staff of Ice from the Mystery Box on The Tomb?
Yes, technically—but don’t count on it. While the Staff of Ice can appear in the Mystery Box on The Tomb, it’s entirely dependent on RNG. The Ray Gun shares the same loot pool, making the odds slim. While using the “Wunderbar!” GobbleGum can improve your chances, it still doesn’t guarantee a drop. For players who want a reliable method, building the weapon through a series of steps is the most efficient route. Here’s how.

To craft the Staff of Ice, players must collect three distinct components scattered across The Tomb. Unlike random drops, each part is obtained by completing specific objectives. The good news? These parts can be collected in any order, giving teams flexibility in their approach.
How To Get the Staff of Ice Monocle

The Monocle is the easiest component to acquire. At the start of any match, the first Shock Mimic killed by a player will drop the Monocle. Once the Mimic is defeated, simply walk over to the item and press the interact button to add it to your inventory. This step requires no puzzle-solving—just keep an eye out for the glowing drop after the first Mimic goes down.
How To Get the Staff of Ice Head Piece

Head to the Neolithic Catacombs to begin the quest for the Head Piece. Your goal is a wall adorned with a cave painting, but initially, it may appear dark and unreadable. To reveal the symbols, you’ll need to activate the nearby Dark Aether lanterns that emit purple fire.
If the lanterns aren’t active, visit the Dark Aether Nexus and return—they typically spawn shortly after. Once lit, shoot the lantern closest to the mural until the purple flame transfers and illuminates the wall.
Now, focus on the Roman numerals displayed: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X. Using a bullet-based weapon (avoid explosives or splash damage), shoot the symbols in ascending order. If you make a mistake, don’t worry—the system resets to the last correct input, so you can continue from there.
Successfully completing the sequence lights up a constellation on the wall and triggers a lockdown event. During this phase, zombies and special enemies will swarm the area, and you won’t be able to leave. Survive the onslaught, and the Head Piece will appear at the mural site for pickup.
How To Get the Staff of Ice Staff Piece

Travel to the Tombs room to begin the second puzzle. Look for the Bull Mural facing left, depicted in the act of charging Roman soldiers. Just like before, you’ll need to illuminate the wall by manipulating the Dark Aether lanterns until the purple fire lights the one nearest to the mural.
Once illuminated, Roman numerals I through VIII will appear. Shoot them in ascending order: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII. Again, use a standard firearm—explosives will disrupt the sequence.
Upon completion, another lockdown begins. Defend your position against waves of enemies until the event ends. Once cleared, the Staff Piece will spawn at the mural, ready to be collected.
How To Finish the Staff of Ice on The Tomb
With all three components in hand—the Monocle, Head Piece, and Staff Piece—it’s time to assemble the weapon. First, ensure the Door to Nowhere is open, then proceed to the Dark Aether Nexus.
At the center of the Nexus stands a large structure. Interact with it to begin the assembly process. As you place the parts, a massive horde of zombies, special enemies, and even elite variants will spawn and aggressively target the staff.
Your team must defend the staff during this vulnerable phase. This fight can be intense, so come prepared: bring Pack-a-Punched weapons, Juggernog, Quick Revive, and Speed Cola. GobbleGums like Kill Joy and Free Fire can significantly boost your survivability and damage output.
After a tense defense, the Staff of Ice will be fully assembled and available for pickup. Once claimed, it becomes a game-changing tool—freeze enemies in place and shatter them with ease.
And that’s how to get the Staff of Ice on The Tomb in Black Ops 6 Zombies—no RNG, no waiting, just skill and teamwork.
