The much-anticipated GTA 6 trailer has finally dropped, and if you missed it, we've got you covered with a detailed breakdown of all the secrets and Easter eggs. However, fans will need to hold their horses until May 26, 2026, to dive into the world of Lucia and Jason. In the meantime, let's take a stroll down memory lane and rank our favorite Rockstar games for some fun!
Since its inception in 1998, Rockstar has crafted over 30 games, gifting us iconic series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which of these gems shines the brightest? Note that we're focusing solely on games developed by Rockstar, excluding published titles like LA Noire or Max Payne 2. I've taken a shot at ranking them using an IGN Tier List, based purely on my personal enjoyment over the years. Here's my tier list:
Red Dead Redemption 2 easily clinches the top spot in my S-tier, being my all-time favorite game. It's joined by its predecessor and the groundbreaking GTA 5, both trailblazers in the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a soft spot for Max Payne 3 with its exhilarating bullet time mechanics, and GTA San Andreas, which I played far too young. At the bottom of the barrel in the D-tier, you'll find titles like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!—games that hardly anyone is eager to revisit.
Disagree with my rankings? Think Vice City outshines GTA 4? Feel free to create your own tier list and compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the IGN community.

With only two trailers out so far, it's hard to predict where GTA 6 will land on our tier list. Share your thoughts in the comments on where you think it will rank and why you've placed the other games in your chosen order.
