This latest reveal comes hot on the heels of *Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1* in March and *Godzilla vs. Hulk #1* in April. Like its predecessors, *Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1* is a nostalgic journey set in an earlier era, specifically after the events of 1984's *Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars*. The story unfolds as Peter Parker returns from Battleworld, still adjusting to the alien symbiote costume that has bonded with him. He'll need all his newfound strength to protect his city from the rampaging Godzilla.
The creative team behind *Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1* includes writer Joe Kelly, who is also set to relaunch the flagship *The Amazing Spider-Man* series. The issue is illustrated by Nick Bradshaw, known for his work on *Wolverine and the X-Men*, and features cover art by Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land.
Joe Kelly shared his enthusiasm with IGN, saying, "The second I heard that there was going to be a Godzilla x Spidey crossover set in the ‘80s, I almost leapt across the table to claim it. This book is a chance to go nuts and have a blast with two iconic characters and channel the chaos of the time period that I was actively collecting Spider-Man. Nick Bradshaw really captures the absurdity of the concept and the vibe I was going for, while at the same time giving Godzilla and Spidey (in his perfectly-normal-nothing-weird-here-black suit!) the prestige and gravity they deserve. It's a love letter served with an earth-shattering roar!”
This isn't the first time iconic Western superheroes have clashed with Godzilla. DC recently released *Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong*, with a sequel on the horizon. However, while that series utilized the MonsterVerse versions of Godzilla and King Kong, these Marvel specials draw on the classic Toho Godzilla.
This news follows the announcement of IDW's *Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1*, an anthology special that will donate its proceeds to a wildfire relief charity.
*Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1* is set to hit the shelves on April 30, 2025.Stay tuned for more exciting developments in the comic book world by checking out what's in store from Marvel and DC in 2025.
