PlayStation and Sucker Punch Productions have unveiled the release date for the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, titled Ghost of Yōtei. On April 23, a new trailer named "The Onryō’s List" was released, providing a glimpse into the game's narrative and showcasing gameplay elements. The trailer culminates with the announcement of the game's launch date: October 2, 2025.
Ghost of Yōtei follows the journey of Atsu, set in the heart of Ezo (present-day Hokkaido), as she seeks vengeance against the notorious Yōtei Six—a group of outlaws responsible for her family's murder and her near-death. Her quest involves hunting down The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito.
This standalone sequel is set 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Earlier this year, the developers shared insights into new features, including an array of new weapons, innovative mechanics, and more, expanding on the foundation laid by its predecessor.
Hunt Down The Yōtei Six Your Way
Ghost of Yōtei offers players the freedom to pursue the Yōtei Six in any sequence they choose, tailoring their path of revenge. Sucker Punch provided detailed information about the game's features on PlayStation.blog on April 23, shedding light on Atsu's journey and the game's expansive world.
The game introduces an evolved approach to open-world exploration, offering more freedom and variety than Ghost of Tsushima. Beyond the pursuit of the outlaws, players can engage in various activities in the new setting of Ezo. According to the blog post, "Atsu can also track other dangerous targets and claim bounties, or seek out weapon sensei to learn new skills."
While exploring, fans will encounter familiar elements from the original game, including the beloved "Guiding Wind" feature. A new mechanic allows players to build campfires anywhere in the open world, emphasizing the developers' focus on player freedom in the vast landscape of Ezo.
