The official Forza Motorsport account has released a community statement addressing ongoing support for both Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5, confirming that developers Turn 10 and Playground Games will "continue to support" their current titles.

While it might seem obvious that a studio would support its latest releases, unfortunately that wasn't a given. This statement comes exactly one month after reports surfaced that Turn 10 was heavily impacted by major layoffs across Microsoft. Initial rumors suggested around 50% of Turn 10's staff were let go, but later accounts indicated even more were affected—possibly the entire or majority of the studio. A former employee mentioned that the studio remained open to supporting Horizon, but the Motorsport division had been completely shut down.
Xbox has yet to issue any official statement regarding the situation at Turn 10, the status of Playground Games, or which studio representatives are posting on Twitter/X to affirm ongoing support for both titles. Notably, the announcement also remains silent on future game development. Forza Motorsport is currently only two years old, but Forza Horizon 5 launched back in 2021, and fans are eagerly anticipating a new installment. It remains uncertain whether a new Horizon entry will arrive, if Motorsport will see another release, or if both Forza teams have been reduced to maintaining existing titles until further support becomes unfeasible.
This update coincides with developments for several other Xbox-supported titles. Today brought news that Xbox canceled Contraband, developed by Avalanche Studios, but also confirmation that Hideo Kojima's OD is still in development. Both Everwild and Perfect Dark were revealed to have been canceled one month ago during the layoffs.
