Dived into the Abyss Yet?
The story of Made in Abyss originated in 2012 as a manga by Akihito Tsukushi, serialized on Web Comic Gamma. It centers around Riko, a young orphan from the town of Orth, which is perched on the edge of the mysterious Abyss—a vast, vertical hole filled with ancient technology, bizarre creatures, and untold secrets that can engulf explorers forever. Driven by the legacy of her mother, Lyza, a renowned White Whistle Cave Raider who vanished in the Abyss, Riko sets out on a perilous journey.
Accompanied by Reg, a mysterious half-robot boy with no recollection of his origins, Riko ventures deeper into the Abyss, fully aware that they might never make it back. The manga's success led to its adaptation into an anime in 2017, followed by the sequel film, Dawn of the Deep Soul, which premiered in Japan in 2020. Additionally, Chime Corporation released a console and PC RPG, Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness, in 2022.
