The cards revealed today are part of the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet, integrated into the larger main set. These cards are reprints of existing Magic: The Gathering cards, reimagined with stunning concept art and characters from various Final Fantasy games. While they don't introduce new mechanics or unique cards like those recently showcased or found in the Commander decks, their art spans the entire history of the Final Fantasy series, starting from the very first game.

Unlike the cards in the main set, Through the Ages cards won't be legal in Magic's Standard format, although they retain their legality if the original card was already part of that format. These cards serve as alternate art versions and can be found in both the premium Collector Boosters and one in every three regular Play Boosters, which are essential for Limited events like Draft and Sealed.
If you're planning to dive deep into this set, either at your local game store or on digital platforms like Magic: The Gathering Arena, you're likely to encounter these cards frequently. Five of the six cards are Rares, making them somewhat scarce, but Thrum of the Vestige stands out as an Uncommon. This card is a reskin of the highly popular Lightning Bolt, and it's expected to have a significant impact on the set.
The Warrior of Light reprinting of Jodah, the Unifier, is set to be a fan favorite. Jodah is a powerful and popular Commander, and the artwork here is drawn from Amano's original Japanese boxart for Final Fantasy. Similarly, Amano's iconic depiction of Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey has been creatively reused for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's most formidable partner commanders, which has seen only one previous reprint before this.
These cards will be available in physical form as part of the larger Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions launching on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy fan new to Magic, there's plenty to be excited about, especially with Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the FF7 Remake series, hinting at a unique design for Sephiroth on one of the cards for mysterious reasons.
