Nintendo enthusiasts on the West Coast have a reason to celebrate today, May 15, as Nintendo opens its latest store in San Francisco's Union Square at 331 Powell Street. This marks the second official Nintendo store in the United States, following the iconic New York location, which was previously known as the Nintendo World Store. The New York store underwent renovations and a rebranding to become Nintendo NY before its grand reopening in 2016.
IGN had the opportunity to visit the new San Francisco store to see what Nintendo has in store for its fans. Additionally, we had the privilege of sitting down with Nintendo of America's president, Doug Bowser, to discuss the company's decision to open its first West Coast store at this time.
During our conversation, we couldn't help but delve into the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch on June 5. We asked Bowser about the availability of the Switch 2 in the U.S. at launch and beyond, the controversial Game-Key Cards, and a range of other topics related to this exciting new console.
