The much-anticipated open-world survival MMO, *Dune: Awakening*, inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's films, has been pushed back to June 10, 2025. Funcom, the game's developer, announced this delay but also offered a silver lining for eager fans: those who purchase the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition can dive into the game early on June 5, 2025.
The news was shared via a tweet from the official *Dune: Awakening* account on April 15, 2025:

Funcom explained that the delay stems from feedback received during their ongoing Persistent Closed Beta. The additional time will allow the team to "cook" the game further and incorporate valuable changes suggested by beta participants. Moreover, this delay paves the way for a large-scale beta weekend next month, giving more players the chance to experience *Dune: Awakening* and provide their input.
While the delay might be disappointing for some, Funcom is set to host a combat livestream today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This event will delve into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills, offering fans a deeper look into what *Dune: Awakening* has in store.
Here at IGN, we're thrilled about *Dune: Awakening*. As we mentioned in our hands-on preview, "It's easy to be skeptical about an MMO survival game set in the Dune universe, but after a few bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that *Dune: Awakening* is one to watch."
