The DOOM community's passion for running the iconic game on unconventional platforms has led to another fascinating experiment. A tech enthusiast, known as NyanSatan, has successfully managed to run DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This adapter, equipped with its own iOS-based firmware and a processor that can reach up to 168 MHz, became the unlikely host for this classic shooter. NyanSatan achieved this feat by first accessing the adapter's firmware and then running the game, using a MacBook to facilitate the process due to the adapter's lack of memory.
In other DOOM news, the upcoming title, DOOM: The Dark Ages, introduces a significant focus on accessibility. Players will have the option to adjust the aggression level of demons within the game's settings, aiming to make the shooter accessible to a broader audience. This new iteration promises a level of customization that surpasses previous id Software projects. According to executive producer Marty Stratton, the studio's goal is to enhance accessibility by allowing players to tailor various aspects of the gameplay. These include modifying enemy damage and difficulty, adjusting the speed and impact of projectiles, and fine-tuning the game's tempo, aggression levels, and parry timing.
Stratton also emphasized that understanding the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal does not require prior knowledge of either game. This approach ensures that new players can jump into the latest entries without feeling lost, making the DOOM universe more welcoming to newcomers.
